honest thoughts

Posted by DRAGONKITTYiPOD - 3 weeks ago

lately i havent been one to engage with my following due to introversion and exhaustion from fitting with an algorithm, which newgrounds doesn't have much of.. but still, i've strayed away from posting much fanart unless it's a genuine fixation of mine. i've gotten up to 792 followers as of now, which im very thankful for! even if i don't speak much, i cherish the fact that ive been able to share my art and have it resonate with people.

my main question to those reading is this: why did you begin following me? is it my style? was it for a specific fandom or do you enjoy seeing my commission work, my ocs, or are you here for anything? also, is there anything you all would like to see from me? any critiques?

ive noticed in my thumbnails that the characters drawn are usually facing the same angle, which im currently working on now. im also focused on character design (mainly adoptables and doing what i please, it's not professional by any means) but i recognize that im lacking in aspects like backgrounds and perspective ^^; anything helps! it's good to reach out for second opinions from time to time.

maintaining consistency and socializing often is hard for me. it's unfortunate and takes out the 'social' from 'social media,' but i do like to create what i please. i miss connecting with people, my audience, and the people who have been supporting me for years now. i run out of words to say and ways to say thank you, but sincerely, thank you to those who have stuck around for a while. i appreciate it more than you guys could ever imagine. <3

I adore your style and colors! As for ideas for backgrounds and stuffs, i can only recommend what i have been doing - taking pictures of places and things that i would like to draw or that i find inspiring. It's also great practice to draw the things u take pics of anyhow! Even tiny stuff can be scaled up to be a giant thing in fantasy - like how with the right angle of ur phone's camera, u can make a tiny mushroom look like a towering one, draw that and then add stuff like doors and windows and boom!
Just ideas is all, food for thoughts~ best of luck with your endeavors!

ahh thank you so much! i was thinking of investing in a tripod for funsies since i get my best ideas while laying down in bed, maybe i could be my own model of sorts and use myself as my own reference! i think ive taken a few pictures and edited them before, but i havent taken the time to reference still life photos. i once saw a drawing where someone took a photo inside of an empty nerds candy container, which was very fun to see! your ideas sound wonderful and i look forward to trying these techniques soon <3

i follow you becasue your awesome art

I usually (almost instinctually) follow anyone I'm mutuals with. I stick around 'cus I'm always impressed with your ability to paint and mix different colors together. I'd say through observation alone, it helps me understand color theory more.

For tips on backgrounds and perspective, using IRL photos as a point of reference is most effective, in my opinion. You can also look at your favorite art for inspiration on stylized backgrounds, as well. I sometimes do that when drawing my own backgrounds.

If there's one thing I'd wanna see more from your art, it'd be stuff involving your OCs or sonas. Like say, memes or fanart where they interact with other characters, just to name a few examples.

I followed you because of your painting style and colors!! they are soo good.
i think this drawing really impressed me: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/dragonkittyipod/rawring-20-s .as far as what I want to see from you, honestly anything that you are interested in! you already seem to be working on the aspects of your art that you feel like improving so its no biggie. don't forget to have fun and draw what you like! love your art!!! cheers
